Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d)

Job Description

A portfolio company is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to support its product development and backend infrastructure. The company is a next-generation supply chain platform redefining how one of the world’s largest industries sources, distributes, and finances materials. It harnesses agentic AI and workflow automation to provide seamless, high-efficiency access to premium materials at scale.

The Senior Backend Engineer will focus on building scalable backend services and contribute to various projects from architecture decisions to deployment.

In this role, the Senior Backend Engineer will:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and own the full software development cycle
• Write clean, functional, and maintainable code
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use
• Manage individual project priorities and deliverables, while working in a collaborative, knowledge-sharing team
• Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
• Gather and address technical and design requirements
• Stay up to date with the latest technology trends and best practices

Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills
• Strong experience in Java; additional Python knowledge is a big plus
• Hands-on experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or BigQuery
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and reusable code with solid architectural decision-making
• Familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines and developer tools like Linters and testing frameworks
• Understanding of distributed systems and experience building microservices
• Proactive mindset
