takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is seeking an Occupational Health and Safety Officer to join their Supply Chain team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. The Occupational Health and Safety Officer will report to the Risk and Security Manager and will be responsible for maintaining safety standards, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring all safety documentation is signed off by relevant employees.
• Conducting environmental, housekeeping, and safety surveys.
• Maintaining updated employee file packs with relevant documentation.
• Scheduling and maintaining training programs.
• Informing management of potential Health, Safety, or Environment issues.
• Ensuring completion of checklists and inspections.
• Holding monthly H&S meetings.
• Coordinating emergency drills.
• Ensuring employee compliance with regulations.
• Identifying new risks and developing risk assessments.
• Ensuring contractor compliance with H&S standards.

Requirements:

• Diploma in Health and Safety and Samtrac or Nebosh.
• 2 years of experience in OHS.
• Solid understanding of Health and Safety and relevant legislation.
• Mathematical inclination.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational and business administration skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt.
• Good team player with a positive attitude.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
