Software Developer II - Full-Stack

Lightspeed is seeking a Software Developer II to join their Lightspeed Retail Team in North America. The successful candidate will be responsible for crafting software solutions that empower merchants with essential tools. They will be part of a dynamic product development team focused on continuous value delivery, upholding software engineering best practices, and constructing resilient, scalable solutions.

The S-Series squad is a small team with members based in Europe and Canada. For this role, Lightspeed is seeking candidates located in Canada, available to work within EST/EDT hours.

What this role involves:

• Developing and maintaining the S-Series retail product using Ruby-on-Rails, NodeJS, Python, and React.
• Collaborating with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to deliver features and functionality.
• Writing clean, tested, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Extending skills by learning from and growing with the team.
• Celebrating achievements and having fun together.

Requirements:

• Experience developing and shipping production-grade software.
• A strong sense of ownership of features.
• Ability to analyze production environments, incidents, and performance characteristics.
• Passion for learning new things and a desire to continuously improve.
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality software projects on time.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of Ruby, Javascript/Typescript or Python.
• Knowledge of front-end (React preferred).
• Experience with relational (SQL) databases.
• Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Real-time messaging systems, e.g. Kafka.
