Filson, a company with over 125 years of history, is seeking a Technical Designer/Product Development professional to join their team in Seattle, WA. This role is pivotal in developing high-quality products and maintaining communication across departments and vendors. The ideal candidate will ensure the timely production of superior products, contributing to Filson's legacy of American craftsmanship.
Key responsibilities include: - Creating and managing technical specifications and detailed bill of materials.
- Creating Measurement specifications with an understanding and knowledge of patternmaking and grading.
- Managing an iterative prototype process and engaging with key internal and vendor partners in problem solving.
- Applying in-depth knowledge of manufacturing process to enhance overall product performance.
- Reviewing, documenting, and communicating all sampling requirements and product changes to manufacturing partners.
- Adhering to development calendar deadlines and proactively addressing potential issues.
- Developing and maintaining material details, including new packaging, branding, and written content.
- Recommending and sourcing new materials and construction techniques.
- Developing working relationships with domestic and offshore vendors.
- Following established processes for trim development, care Instructions and product briefs.
- Coordinating with cross functional partners to utilize Filson housed materials and distribution for manufacturing partners.
The requirements are: - 4+ years of work experience in garment manufacturing, product development, and specification development.
- Two-year technical degree with a soft goods focus, desired.
- Knowledge of garment, bag and/or home goods construction and manufacturing techniques.
- Proficiency in Excel and Word is required.
- Working knowledge in Adobe Illustrator
- Experience working in PLM systems.
