Data Scientist II - Hotels

Job Description

Tripadvisor is seeking a Data Scientist II to join their Machine Learning team, focusing on the Hotels Auction platform. This role involves applying modeling and engineering skills to predictive modeling and auction dynamics. The Data Scientist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including ML scientists, analysts, product managers, engineers, and partner-facing teams, to build ML-powered solutions.

The role involves:

• Participating in the design and deployment of machine learning models.
• Seeking out new opportunities to apply data science and machine learning.
• Prototyping, evaluating, deploying, and maintaining new models in production.
• Designing A/B tests and analyzing their results.
• Communicating progress and interpretation of model output/performance to stakeholders.
• Participating in the determination of next steps for each project.

Requirements include:

• PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related quantitative field (or Masters with 2+ years of practical experience).
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong foundation in machine learning and statistics.
• Solid foundation on data structures and algorithms.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with sort and recommendation modeling a plus.
• Experience working with real-world data strongly preferred.
• Previous industry experience a plus.
