Ops Engineer – Backend Applications with SIP/VOIP

Job Description

Vonage is seeking an experienced Ops Engineer to join their team in Bangalore. This role focuses on the engineering aspects of supported applications, including deployment, configuration, administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The engineer will evaluate application configurations and designs, participate in project-oriented tasks, and work both independently and collaboratively within an agile environment. They will also provide 24/7 on-call support.Responsibilities include:

• Supporting backend applications through deployments, on-call duties, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Improving processes and procedures.
• Developing and documenting application standards.
• Analyzing application statistics.
• Managing group projects and resolving production issues.
• Coordinating and managing test environments.
• Collaborating with various teams to resolve issues and test new releases.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in an Ops role.
• Understanding of Linux, application/OS tuning, networks (TCP/IP), DNS, and relational databases (Oracle, MYSQL, EDB).
• Knowledge of SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) and PERL (a plus).
• Linux systems knowledge (performance tuning, basic networking, file systems).
• Experience with version control systems like Git, SVN etc.
• Scripting skills in Python, Shell, JavaScript, and DB scripting.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
