Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer to join their Electron Flight Software team in Auckland, New Zealand. This role involves developing, maintaining, and supporting critical software systems for the Electron launch vehicle and kick-stage. The engineer will take ownership of core areas within the Electron FSW architecture and lead major projects to ensure mission success.Rocket Lab is a global leader in launch and space systems, building rockets and satellites that enable vital space missions. The company's Electron rocket has provided reliable access to orbit since 2018, and Neutron will be their next reusable rocket.
What this role involves: - Verification and release of flight software via HITL testing facilities
- Developing documentation for operation of software products
- Providing transparency to the wider business on current status and blockers
- Facilitating team planning activities
- Identifying project risks and taking steps to avoid potential pitfalls
Requirements: - An engineering degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent qualification
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in embedded software development using C and C++
- Software development within a Linux environment, specifically embedded applications
- Experience developing software and drivers with UDP/TCP within an embedded system
- Experience with Embedded Linux, including deployment (e.g. Yocto)
