Job Description
FLYR is seeking a Senior Manager, Cloud Platform Engineering to lead a team focused on managing and operating GCP Infrastructure and Platform. This role involves partnering with product and delivery engineering teams to provide platform capabilities and reliable services for FLYR’s evolving product portfolio. The Senior Manager will drive the onboarding and operational support of multiple customer environments and platforms, provision and maintain infrastructure as code, automate deployment and release processes, and build platform services.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading a team responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of GCP Infrastructure and Platform.
- Driving the onboarding and operational support of multiple customer environments and platforms.
- Provisioning and maintaining infrastructure as code, automating deployment and release processes.
- Building platform services that can be used across the FLYR product portfolio.
- Participating in building a team culture of good architecture, operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, equivalent experience, or related field preferred.
- Experience designing and implementing cloud native architectures based on modern DevOps/SRE principles and best practices.
- Strong hands on technical experience in software development, deployment and operations on public Cloud platform (ideally GCP), CICD, deployment automation, and Pipeline as Code.
- 5+ years of experience with container orchestration technologies, observability, incident management, and continuous integration and deployment best practices.
- Leadership experience as people manager leading a technical team.
- Experience as engineering manager to be able to: hire strong technical people in Platform Engineering team, ensure good onboarding of new hires, understand team’s technical work, suggest process improvements, manage vendor performance and expectations, plan for team growth based on FLYR needs.
- Strong communication skills; able to communicate technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
- Experience managing a team with 24x7 coverage across multiple regions.
