Job Description
Scale is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join their rapidly growing International Public Sector team. This team focuses on using AI to address critical challenges facing the public sector around the world. The Applied AI Engineer will be responsible for building custom end-to-end AI applications for public sector clients using computer vision and/or language models. They will also fine-tune these models to maximize performance and customer value. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of AI in the public sector and be a founding member of the team.

Role involves:
  • Partnering with public sector clients to understand their challenges and define AI-driven solutions.
  • Building and deploying end-to-end AI applications into production.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to create high-quality training datasets.
  • Designing and maintaining robust evaluation frameworks.
  • Participating in customer engagements, including occasional travel.
  • Contributing to the scaling of AI capabilities in the public sector.

Requirements:
  • A strong engineering background with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of post-graduation engineering experience with proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, C++, or TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • 2+ years of experience applying AI/ML in production environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based machine learning tools and platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.
