Chief of Staff, Machine Learning

Job Description

Scale AI is seeking a Chief of Staff, Machine Learning, who will partner with leaders in the ML organization to develop research roadmaps, drive planning processes, and lead ML strategy. The ideal candidate will possess meticulous planning and organizational skills, analytical rigor, a customer-centric focus, and an empathetic interpersonal style.

In this role, someone will:

• Partner with the Head of ML and other senior leaders to define business priorities, drive execution of key initiatives, and create alignment between and within teams.
• Help develop overall business unit strategy, business development priorities, and internal operating models.
• Drive weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual planning processes for the ML business unit.
• Perform analyses and provide recommendations to facilitate effective business unit decision making.
• Own key operational rhythms / processes (weekly leadership meetings, All Hands, OKR reviews, team offsites), including preparing the agenda, facilitating the discussions, documenting notes / action items, and closing out follow ups.
• Act as a thought partner to ML business unit leadership, proactively identifying risks and opportunities to shape our products and improve internal operations.

Requirements:

• Exceptional executive communication skills with the ability to distill complex ideas into clear, concise insights delivered through engaging presentations and slide decks.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude, comfortable reviewing technical research (e.g., Scale AI Research) and grasping high-level concepts quickly.
• Highly organized with a planning-focused mindset.
• Strong prioritization and multitasking capabilities in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
• A strong orientation towards outcomes and data-driven decision making, and a willingness to roll up your sleeves to get the job done.
• Proven track record of building relationships and influencing across teams without direct authority.
