Senior BI Engineer

Job Description

DEPT® is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to partner with stakeholders and implement automated reporting deliverables. The ideal candidate will unify data sources and evolve processes to create and maintain reporting and analytical tools. The Senior BI Engineer will be responsible for interacting with internal and external stakeholders to develop products and services focused on data automation.

Role involves:

• Partnering with cross-functional teams to translate business questions into structured reporting solutions
• Building tools that expand upon automation via DEPT’s existing systems
• Leading projects and contribute to evolving our reporting processes
• Building clear, intuitive dashboards and reporting tools using Looker Studio, Google Sheets, and Tableau
• Acting as a subject matter expert in data visualization best practices
• Developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Contributing to onboarding documentation and refine best practices
• Adding to the company’s knowledge base by creating and sharing case studies, playbooks, and POVs
• Developing logic for anomaly detection or lightweight alerting systems using Python

Requirements:

• Expertise in data visualization tools such as Looker Studio, Google Sheets, and Tableau
• Advanced experience developing custom SQL to prepare data for reporting and analysis
• Experience working with Snowflake, BigQuery, MS SQL Server, or other modern data platforms
• Comfort navigating marketing-related datasets (e.g., paid media, website analytics, CRM)
• Familiarity with data ingestion tools like Matillion or Fivetran, and secure data handling via S3 or sFTP
• A collaborative, team-first mindset with a passion for building tools others can use and trust
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
• A strong desire to simplify complexity and improve how teams engage with data
• 3–5 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Reporting, or Data Analytics roles
• Fluency in English and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
