Job Description
Scale AI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its GenAI Operator Group. This role involves building the infrastructure and user-facing tools that enable Scale’s operations team to deliver high-quality labeled data at scale. The Senior Software Engineer will work at the intersection of AI and human feedback, focusing on performance, reliability, and usability in contributor-facing systems. The company's Generative AI Data Engine powers the world’s most advanced LLMs and generative models through world-class RLHF, human data generation, model evaluation, safety, and alignment.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable systems across the full stack.
  • Implement high-impact features using TypeScript, React, Node.js, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and Temporal.
  • Collaborate with internal operators to identify bottlenecks and ship fast, pragmatic solutions.
  • Own core systems critical to Scale’s contributor platform.
  • Architect and scale infrastructure capable of handling millions of tasks per week.
  • Partner cross-functionally with ML teams, Forward Deployed Engineers, and Product teams.
  • Contribute to a strong engineering culture through mentorship and code reviews.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Proven track record of shipping production systems at scale.
  • Drive reliability and performance across critical infrastructure systems.
  • Strong technical depth in front-end frameworks, distributed systems, data infrastructure, or developer tooling.
  • Experience with React, TypeScript, Node.js, Python, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and/or Temporal.
  • Strong product sense and ability to translate ambiguous problems into technical solutions.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.
  • Excited to join a dynamic hybrid team based in San Francisco or New York City.
