Senior Data Engineer

Discord is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its Data team. This role involves collaborating with data science and engineering teams to build and support foundational high-leverage data sets that power tools, analyses, and models. The data sets built directly inform how Discord identifies opportunities, measures success, and makes decisions.

What this role involves:

• Creating and maintaining data pipelines and foundational datasets.
• Designing and building database architectures.
• Collaborating with data science, machine learning, and engineering teams.
• Developing audits for data quality at scale.
• Creating scalable dashboards and reports.
• Partnering with data scientists, engineers, and product teams.

What the candidate should have:

• 4+ years of experience building data pipelines in production environments.
• 4+ years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining robust data models.
• 4+ years of experience writing accurate and effective code in SQL and Python.
• Experience implementing and monitoring audits for data quality with massive data sets.
• Experience proactively identifying opportunities to improve ETL & dashboard performance and cost.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A collaborative attitude and a healthy dose of natural curiosity.
