Senior Software Engineer - DevOps (Trading Systems)

Job Description

FalconX is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - DevOps to join their trading systems engineering team in Bangalore. This role is crucial for building and maintaining the core trading platforms, ensuring system reliability, scalability, and security. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance infrastructure quality through automation and operational support.Responsibilities include:

• Improving system reliability, scalability, and security.
• Building and managing systems, infrastructure, and applications through automation.
• Providing operational support to internal teams.
• Working on improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce latency.
• Practicing sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.
• Sharing an on-call rotation and serving as an escalation contact for service incidents.
• Implementing and maintaining rigorous security best practices.
• Monitoring system health and performance.

Minimum qualifications include:

• Bachelors with 5+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) / DevOps Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of Linux system internals and bash scripting.
• Expertise in optimizing systems for low latency and productionizing trading systems.
• Strong knowledge of network communications fundamentals (TCP/IP and UDP).
• Knowledge of FIX protocol and low latency multicast with Aeron.
• Strong skills in observability, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Effective communication skills.
• Experience deploying and managing Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience adapting workloads to use Cloud Native technologies (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Expertise using DevOps deployment tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, and Ansible).
• Hands-on experience in programming languages (C, C++, Java, Python, or Go).
• Proficiency in C++ build systems (CMake) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of key backing services (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Kafka, RabbitMQ).

Preferred qualifications include:

• Extensive experience with DevOps for deployment automation and app-level support.
• Extensive experience in a low-latency electronic trading environment.
• Expertise in developing advanced observability capabilities.
