Platform Engineering Manager

Job Description

Perplexity is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead its high-impact Platform engineering team, which is the backbone of reliability and scalability. The company has experienced tremendous growth since launching its conversational answer engine and is looking for someone to help shape the future of information discovery.Responsibilities:

• Provide engineering leadership across multiple layers of a rapidly growing platform.
• Set standards for reliability, code quality, testing, and maintenance.
• Oversee onboarding and ensure code quality for a growing team.
• Collaborate closely with AI research, Search, and Product teams.
• Develop rigorous interview pipelines and work closely with recruiting to source candidates.

Qualifications:

• Ability to design reusable and scalable systems and processes.
• Ability to constructively identify technical debt.
• Ability to cleanly resolve engineering blockers.
• Strong organizational skills for managing and delivering parallel technical projects.
• Experience leading foundational / platform teams.
• Experience leveraging the right combination of open source and in-house solutions.
• 8+ years of engineering experience.
• 4+ years of engineering management experience.
