Senior Motion Designer (Contract)

Job Description

Khan Academy is seeking a Senior Motion Designer for a contract role. The Motion Designer will help define the motion language and systems that support the brand. The ideal candidate will have expertise in architecting extensible and performant animation systems within Rive.

The role involves collaborating with Product Designers and Visual Designers to improve the classroom experience with motion. The Motion Designer will also work with Engineers to define how Rive projects will consume data to influence and customize interactions. The role requires documenting principles and processes to leave a lasting mark on the fundamentals, including timing, style, and interactions.

What this role involves:

• Establishing motion language for Khan Academy.
• Collaborating with Product Designers and Visual Designers.
• Working with Engineers to define how Rive projects will consume data.
• Creating in-app animations across multiple products.
• Documenting principles and process.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience working on Motion for digital surfaces.
• Portfolio of work.
• Experience working in Rive and the ability to architect a complex Rive system.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Excellent taste and the ability to find compromise with business and technical needs.
