Senior Cloud Security Engineer

Job Description

Zinnia is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to help mitigate risk and enable security controls for their cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will leverage their development, security, and architecture experience to create security controls as code and scalable security architecture.

The Senior Cloud Security Engineer will build partnerships with Site Reliability Engineering, Software Engineering, and IT teams to protect company and customer data. They will also partner with tech and business stakeholders to enable them through coaching, mentoring, education, and advising on system design and architecture. The role involves implementing, configuring, and monitoring security tools, and driving an appreciation for security.

Responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with the product engineering and SRE teams.
• Identifying risks across all cloud environments and assisting in architectural design to mitigate them.
• Securing Zinnia’s cloud platforms to ensure compliance with best practice frameworks and requirements.
• Partnering with the security team, platform and security engineers to develop a scalable threat modeling program.
• Developing, deploying, and maintaining various security tools and their SOPs.
• Adopting automation to shift security to the left and make it scalable.
• Triaging, escalating, and remediating vulnerabilities.
• Participating in an on-call rotation supporting the platform.
• Being a mentor for team members.

Requirements include:

• 9+ years of experience in a cloud security engineering or site reliability engineering role.
• Extensive hands-on experience in GCP and/or AWS.
• Extensive hands-on experience in securing Kubernetes and container orchestration technologies.
• Experience in Python, or another programming language.
• Experience in the development of security products or DevSecOps infrastructure.
• Experience building and operationalizing SOAR, DevSecOps and IaC tools for cloud.
• Familiarity with deployment automation tools such as Terraform, Helm, Atlantis, and BuildKite.
• Familiarity with threat modeling.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Desire to build a cloud security program and coach junior engineers.
