Working Student - Security Engineer (f/m/d)

Job Description

Contentful is seeking a motivated Working Student Security Engineer to join their Security team in Berlin. This part-time role is designed to provide practical experience in operational security tasks, fitting around the student's studies, with potential for increased responsibility as they develop.

The Working Student will primarily support the senior team by handling operational tickets, such as third-party vendor reviews, completing security questionnaires for prospective customers, and aiding in corporate risk reviews. The role offers the opportunity to explore other security domains as the student progresses, with an initial focus on ensuring smooth operations.

Contentful is looking for someone detail-oriented, with a strong desire to learn, and who can work effectively in their distributed team.

What the role involves:

• Conducting vendor security reviews.
• Assisting with security questionnaires.
• Collaborating on purchasing and risk review workflows.
• Evaluating and documenting corporate and software-as-a-service related risks.
• Learning ticket prioritization approaches and helping the team manage and address a range of security inquiries.
• Pairing with senior security personnel to learn new skills and technologies.
• Creating and maintaining documentation, processes, and runbooks for team efficiency.
• Working with team members across various locations.

Requirements:

• Basic understanding of Information Security concepts and frameworks.
• Eagerness to expand your skillset and embrace new challenges.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze information from vendors and questionnaires.
• Basic understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, including operating systems (macOS, Windows, Linux), networking concepts, and SaaS platforms.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Clear and concise articulation of findings and questions.
• Motivation to improve operational processes and documentation.
