Forethought is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel to join their team. The candidate will be responsible for negotiating and finalizing agreements with customers, ensuring compliance with legal standards and company policies. This role requires close collaboration with sales and customer success teams to understand client requirements and mitigate risks.
What this role involves:
  • Leading negotiations and redlining of customer contracts.
  • Drafting, negotiating, and responding to comments from customers and partners.
  • Reviewing and revising contractual language to protect the company's interests.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to provide legal expertise.
  • Providing legal guidance on contract terms.
  • Identifying potential legal risks and proposing solutions.
  • Staying up-to-date on relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor degree from a top U.S. law school or equivalent.
  • Admission to practice law in California, New York, or other U.S. state.
  • 5+ years of experience in contract law at a high-growth SaaS or technology company.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS business models and customer agreements.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations.
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work.
  • Team player with the ability to work across departments.
  • Proactive problem solver with a can-do, start-up attitude.
