Job Description
Tide is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their Product Legal team. This role is based in Paris, France, and will focus on providing legal expertise for the development, launch, and operation of Tide’s products and services. The Senior Legal Counsel will be a subject matter expert on regulatory and legal issues, particularly in payments and banking, and will collaborate with various teams to ensure compliance with the evolving regulatory environment.
The role involves high executive visibility and offers opportunities to lead the resolution of complex legal, technology, and business issues. The successful candidate will contribute to building products, driving growth, and influencing the future of Tide.
Responsibilities:
- Advising product teams and management on UK and EU legal and regulatory requirements.
- Guiding business teams through legal frameworks to design, launch, and improve products.
- Drafting and reviewing product-related terms, policies, and communications.
- Anticipating challenges and delivering creative legal solutions.
- Supporting EU market expansion by conducting legal surveys and assessing regulatory requirements.
- Managing complex contracts and legal projects.
- Providing agile advice on a wide range of legal queries.
- Assisting with regulatory changes, advocacy efforts, investigations, audits, and ad hoc disputes.
- Training and guiding teams on UK and EU regulatory developments and implications.
- Mentoring junior lawyers and supporting their development.
Requirements:
- 5+ years PQE with expertise applying UK or EU laws and regulations.
- Experience drafting product or service terms and conditions.
- Knowledge of laws in other major European jurisdictions (desirable).
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Experience mentoring or managing junior colleagues.
- Proactive, can-do attitude with ownership of resolving issues.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects.
