Manager, Software Development - Billing & Subscriptions

Job Description

Workleap is seeking a Manager of Software Development to lead the Billing & Subscriptions squad within the Shared Services department. This role is pivotal in evolving Workleap's platform, creating solutions for both the Workleap Platform and ShareGate by Workleap product lines. The Manager will lead a high-performing team focused on building and maintaining critical platform services, with the potential to expand into authentication, user profiles, and notifications.He/She will partner with stakeholders across product, finance, and engineering to modernize the monetization infrastructure, enable reusable platform capabilities, and ensure teams can innovate efficiently. The Manager will champion service ownership, foster a strong DevOps culture, and coach the team through platform modernization and innersource collaboration.Role Involves:

• Owning and delivering the design, development, reliability, and performance of key shared services.
• Driving high technical standards and architectural decisions.
• Guiding the team through complex modernization efforts.
• Fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
• Partnering with Product, Finance, and Security to align roadmaps and manage risk.
• Acting as a strategic voice within the Shared Services leadership team.
• Coaching and growing developers through mentoring and performance feedback.
• Embracing and promoting innersource contribution models.
• Leading backlog prioritization and making confident tradeoffs.
• Monitoring team capacity and service health metrics.

Requirements:

• Proven experience managing software development teams.
• Strong technical background with the ability to influence architecture.
• Track record of delivering complex infrastructure or monetization systems in SaaS environments.
• Skilled in mentoring, performance management, and creating a high-trust team culture.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and making confident decisions.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience managing technical debt and leading DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with Agile, Lean, and continuous delivery methodologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience as a software developer is highly preferred.
