Intermediate Back-end Engineer

Job Description

Lightspeed is seeking an Intermediate Back-end Engineer to join their team in Newmarket, Auckland. The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer eager to learn and contribute to a culture of excellence. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse team of skilled engineers and grow into a Senior Engineer.

Role Involves:

• Developing and maintaining software through coding, implementing new features, reviewing code, and fixing bugs.
• Taking ownership of features and contributing to impactful coding projects.
• Collaborating with engineers, product managers, and designers to strategize and plan upcoming work.
• Engaging in continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
• Contributing to shared services and libraries, enhancing tooling, and updating documentation.
• Understanding database concepts and writing SQL queries.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Back-end Engineer.
• Experience working on major systems in one or more languages, ideally building REST API endpoints.
• Understanding of concepts like authentication, web security, and how frontends consume APIs.
