Job Description

Lightspeed is seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer (Android) to join their Auckland team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing products that optimize retail merchants' workflows through mobile devices. They will write clean, well-tested code, maintain high-quality standards, and ensure timely code reviews. The role also involves offering technical guidance and contributing to decisions impacting other teams.

What this role involves:

  • Developing the Android inventory management app
  • Building code, delivering features, conducting code reviews, fixing bugs, and participating in peer programming
  • Planning the technical approach for the Android platform
  • Collaborating with engineers, product managers, and designers
  • Building Android products using a modern tech stack (Hilt, Room, Jetpack Compose, etc.)
  • Enhancing tools and libraries, updating documentation, and improving best practices

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience as a Senior Android Engineer
  • Proven track record in building and distributing apps with a large user base
  • Deep expertise in coding complex Android applications using Kotlin
  • Strong grasp of mobile application design principles
  • Willingness to mentor and support other engineers
