Robotics Solution Engineer

Job Description

Apera AI, a Vancouver-based startup specializing in robotics, AI, and machine vision, is seeking a Robotic Solutions Engineer. This role involves being a technical contributor at the intersection of robotics, automation, and computer vision. The Robotic Solutions Engineer will become an expert on Apera's proprietary vision software, Vue and Forge, and use their knowledge of robotics to solve real-world problems. They will collaborate with developers, roboticists, technical artists, and field engineers, owning the execution of key projects from ideation to delivery.Role involves:

• Leading the design, development, and deployment of robotic automation solutions for customer-facing projects.
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex field issues involving robotic vision calibration, pick failure, or communication breakdowns.
• Coordinating cross-functional teams to launch technical automation initiatives.
• Translating customer needs into actionable solutions.
• Managing unplanned technical crises with customers or internal systems.
• Proposing and executing long-term improvement projects based on field learnings.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience in system integration, automation design, or software development (or equivalent academic experience).
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in mechanical, mechatronics, or systems engineering.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills.
• Good programming skills.
• Knowledge of vision systems and vision-guided robotics (Bonus).
• Working knowledge of robot programming (Bonus).
• Experience with robot scripting languages (Bonus).
• Experience with robot simulation software (Bonus).
