R&D Team lead

Job Description

BigID, a data security, compliance, privacy, and AI data management company, is seeking an exceptional R&D Team Lead to join their Data Activity Monitoring team. This role involves building one of BigID’s new products, providing deep visibility into data activity at scale. The team lead will manage a group of talented engineers and guide the technical direction of a high-scale, high-impact solution. They will play a key role in shaping the product’s architecture, driving innovation, and fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and technical excellence.Responsibilities include:

• Leading a team of talented engineers in building BigID’s next-gen Data Activity Monitoring product from the ground up.
• Driving the design and development of scalable, high-performance backend systems.
• Owning the product end-to-end: from roadmap planning to hands-on implementation and production support.
• Collaborating with product, design, and other engineering teams to define and deliver impactful features.
• Championing engineering best practices and foster a culture of quality, innovation, and ownership.

Requirements include:

• 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams and 4+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong backend development skills, ideally with Java and/or TypeScript (Node.js), along with experience working with Kafka and Elasticsearch.
• A proven track record of leading complex projects from idea to production, mentoring engineers, and driving team success.
• Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including product and design.
• A can-do approach and a passion for solving hard problems in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
