The Weather Company is seeking a Senior iOS Mobile App Developer to join their Ad Squad. In this role, the candidate will focus on ad delivery, monetization, and performance within the company's iOS mobile applications. The Senior iOS Mobile App Developer will lead technical initiatives, contribute to architectural decisions, and ensure the reliability and efficiency of ads without compromising the app experience. They will collaborate with engineers, product managers, QA, designers, and ad operations to drive a user-centric, high-performance ad experience for millions of users.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring timely delivery of performant and stable ad features.
  • Leading key ad tech initiatives and mentoring junior developers.
  • Optimizing ad rendering and latency performance.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving ad delivery and SDK integration issues.
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining ad-related features in the iOS app using Swift and Objective-C.
  • Integrating with third-party ad SDKs.
  • Monitoring and resolving issues related to ad rendering, fill rate, and viewability.
  • Implementing instrumentation for measuring ad latency and load success.
  • Collaborating with QA and automation teams to validate ad flows.
  • Ensuring ads are non-intrusive and integrated seamlessly into the app experience.
  • Contributing to internal documentation.
  • Staying current with iOS SDK and ad tech trends.
  • Profiling memory, CPU, and energy usage to ensure ads do not negatively impact performance.
  • Raising technical risks and quality concerns early.
  • Assisting in triaging crashes or bugs related to third-party SDKs.
  • Participating in regular sprint ceremonies.
  • Championing best practices in architectural patterns.
  • Supporting the SDUI initiative.

Requirements include:

  • 5+ years of iOS development experience with Swift and Objective-C.
  • Experience integrating third-party ad SDKs.
  • Deep understanding of iOS memory management models.
  • Strong knowledge of UIKit, StoreKit, CoreAnimation, and iOS UI rendering lifecycles.
  • Proficiency in using Xcode Instruments for performance tuning and debugging.
  • Experience with Firebase Performance Monitoring and Crashlytics.
  • Familiarity with mobile development constraints around battery, network, CPU, and memory.
  • Understanding of header bidding technologies and in-app monetization strategies.
  • Working knowledge of Server-Driven UI (SDUI) concepts and frameworks.
  • Experience with writing unit and integration tests for ad-related components.
