Manufacturing Engineer II - Machining

Job Description

Rocket Lab is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II specializing in Machining to join their team in Long Beach, CA. This role focuses on the machining development of new products and product revisions for the Rutherford and Archimedes engines. The Manufacturing Engineer will contribute to design reviews, select and install machine shop equipment, develop machining capabilities, design tooling, and implement continuous improvement projects. They will also collaborate with other Rocket Lab machine shops and mentor less experienced engineers and machinists.

• Contributing to design reviews
• Selecting, procuring, and installing machine shop equipment
• Developing machining capability in-house
• Designing, developing, and implementing tooling and equipment
• Responsible for continuous improvement and cost reduction projects
• Collaborating with other Rocket Lab machine shops
• Developing and mentoring less experienced engineers and machinist

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing, or equivalent
• 2+ years of machine shop experience
• Familiarity with NX CAM programs and operating 5-axis CNC equipment
• Well versed in GD&T and inspection methods
