The ACLU is seeking applicants for a sponsored Legal Fellowship with the Voting Rights Project (VRP) in New York, NY. This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence two days a week or eight days a month. The Fellow will focus on investigations and litigation, supporting the VRP's mission to advance an accessible, inclusive, and equitable democracy free from racial discrimination.
What this role involves: - Conducting legal research and analysis.
- Drafting legal documents.
- Interviewing witnesses and clients.
- Participating in discovery and trial practice.
- Drafting public education materials.
- Supporting ACLU affiliates.
- Managing the summer legal internship program.
- Engaging in public speaking.
Requirements: - J.D. or expected J.D. by spring 2026.
- Commitment to public interest law, civil liberties, criminal justice, and racial justice.
- Willingness to work closely with the Voting Rights Project through the funding application process.
- Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct complex legal analysis and fact-finding.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and within a team.
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks.
