Job Description
Monzo is seeking a Senior Credit Manager to join their Borrowing team and contribute to the growth of lending to business banking customers. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in providing credit to small and medium-sized enterprises, automated decision-making, and credit risk management. This role involves developing credit and pricing strategies for new lending products, monitoring performance, and collaborating with various teams to build profitable lending portfolios.
Role Involves:
- Leading initiatives in designing and implementing credit and pricing strategies.
- Monitoring the performance of existing strategies and iterating for improvement.
- Supporting the design and roll-out of new products and customer journeys.
- Improving credit underwriting, boosting growth, and managing portfolio risk.
- Collaborating with engineering, marketing, product, risk, and control teams.
- Overseeing the development and monitoring of credit models.
- Providing guidance on credit proposals for Monzo's underwriting policy.
- Promoting a data culture through robust database tables and dashboards.
- Assessing the lending portfolio performance of particular products.
- Mentoring and managing a team of credit analysts.
Requirements:
- Strong domain expertise in providing lending products to small businesses.
- Deep understanding of business lending, including regulation and industry best practice.
- Solid understanding of lending economics and experience in developing underwriting strategies and credit models.
- Strong analytical and data capabilities, with technical coding skills (SQL is a must-have, Python and Looker experience is a plus).
- Strong communication skills, able to articulate decision points.
- Experience in project management and leading high-performing teams.
- Ability to collaborate in a team with diverse skill-sets and personality types.
- Working understanding of UK lending regulations.
- High motivation to bring positive impact to customers and Monzo.
