Job Description

Lightspeed is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join their Data Science Enablement team in Montreal. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the design, development, and maintenance of platforms and tools used for building, training, and deploying AI/ML models at scale. This role involves setting technical direction, mentoring team members, and ensuring the robustness, scalability, and performance of Lightspeed's AI/ML systems and infrastructure.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing scalable and reliable AI/ML infrastructure.
  • Integrating various AI/ML tools and frameworks into existing systems.
  • Managing cloud-based resources and services for AI/ML workloads.
  • Monitoring and optimizing model performance.
  • Developing and maintaining automation scripts and workflows.
  • Collaborating with data scientists and stakeholders.
  • Mentoring team members and data scientists.
  • Implementing and enforcing best practices for data security and compliance.
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation.
  • Researching and implementing industry best practices.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues related to AI/ML systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in machine learning engineering, software engineering, or a related role with a focus on AI/ML systems.
  • Extensive experience with AI/ML frameworks and tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn, etc.
  • Advanced proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and optimizing ML models on cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Kubernetes (K8s) or similar container orchestration platforms.
  • Solid knowledge of data engineering concepts and tools.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
