Job Description
Archer Aviation, an aerospace company focused on electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, is seeking a Senior Motor Manufacturing Engineer.   • Lead process development and industrialization for electric motor components.
  • Drive the development of electric motors, focusing on assembly, welding, magnetization, and balancing.
  • Collaborate with operations to optimize equipment and provide training.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product Design Engineering, Quality, and Facilities teams.
  • Lead Design for Manufacturability (DfM) efforts.
  • Write technical specifications for tooling and automation equipment.
  • Develop manufacturing build plans, including line layout and part flow.
  • Establish an appropriate Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM).
  • Conduct feasibility studies for new manufacturing technologies.
  • Create and maintain detailed work instructions within SAP/PEO.
  • Train and oversee technicians and operators.
  • Design in-house manufacturing equipment and fixtures using NX.
  • Participate in early prototype builds.
  • Conduct Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Monitor production metrics and KPIs.
  • Manage procurement and construction activities.
  • Oversee the deployment of production equipment.
  • Support first-unit builds and testing.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Expertise in processes such as pressing, welding, magnetizing, balancing, and electrical testing for electric motors.
  • Experience in manufacturing key components such as stators, rotors, gearboxes, inverters, and complete engines.
  • Ability to develop production lines from prototype to full-scale production.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency in 2D and/or 3D CAD software.
  • Experience with MES and ERP software, particularly SAP.
  • Strong background in statistical process control (SPC).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Highly organized with a strong hands-on approach.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%.
The role offers:
  • Targeted base pay between $134,000 - $160,000.
