Job Description

PlayStation is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test II (SDET) to join their team in Waterloo, ON, Canada. In this role, the SDET will help expand testing capabilities and ensure the best possible experience for subscribers across the PlayStation ecosystem. The SDET will work closely with Quality Engineering, Development, Product, and Design teams to ensure the quality of multi-platform applications and subscription services. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in software development and testing principles, experience with applications that include complex business logic, and a passion for delivering high-quality software.

Role involves:

  • Designing and establishing test frameworks.
  • Defining and implementing best practices for automation, continuous integration and delivery.
  • Collaborating with globally distributed teams.
  • Partnering with Product Owners and Managers to understand feature requirements.
  • Monitoring, auditing, and maintaining CI/CD jobs.
  • Continuously assessing and enhancing QE processes.
  • Advocating for and expanding test automation coverage.
  • Maintaining, optimizing, and extending existing automation frameworks.
  • Providing support for production deployments and assist with post-release validation.
  • Logging, tracking, and verifying defects.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as an SDET or in a similar QE engineering role.
  • Hands-on experience testing front-end and/or full-stack web applications.
  • Solid understanding of JavaScript and/or Python.
  • Working knowledge of Git for version control.
  • Familiarity with API testing concepts and tools (e.g., Postman, REST-assured, or similar).
  • Strong grasp of modern software engineering practices, including web technologies, continuous integration, and test automation.
  • Eagerness to explore and adopt new testing methodologies and technologies.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and solving issues.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience with end-to-end testing in complex systems.
