Staff Backend Engineer - Grafana Search and Storage (Remote, USA)

Job Description

Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join the Grafana Search & Storage squad. This team is responsible for building Grafana’s next-generation storage layer, a crucial part of the App Platform movement. The Unified Storage component will enable developers to interact with data using Kubernetes-inspired design patterns. The team also manages end-user features like Search and Folders, which are vital for finding and organizing information in Grafana.

This role involves influencing the roadmap, delivering new features, and iterating based on results. The engineer will drive projects from ideation to operation, contribute to open-source projects, and design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems. They will also participate in on-call rotations, mentor team members, and collaborate on design discussions.

The role is remote-first, requiring an independent attitude and strong communication skills.

Requirements:

• Solid experience with the Go programming language
• Knowledge of and experience working with large distributed systems

• Experience developing software that runs in the Cloud or experience with systems engineering
• Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software
