Senior IT Systems Engineer

Job Description

Newsela is seeking a Senior IT Systems Engineer to join their Information Technology team. This role involves managing, scaling, and automating the company's infrastructure, reporting to the IT Engineering Lead. The Senior IT Systems Engineer will administer and support identity and access controls for corporate applications, automate administrative processes, and partner with business stakeholders to translate real-world processes into structured, repeatable workflows. They will also provide backup support to the support and systems staff with engineering leadership.Role involves:

• Maintaining and configuring core SaaS systems and internal tools.
• Ensuring stability, security, and scalability across applications.
• Maintaining accurate records of employees, devices, vendors, and applications.
• Operating and improving data flows and business logic using Celigo.
• Supporting compliance efforts by configuring tools like Vanta.
• Building alerts and reports to monitor critical workflows.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years in an IT, systems, or infrastructure-focused role.
• Comfortable managing SaaS systems and automating workflows.
• Experience with Google Workspace, Slack, Kandji, Atlassian, Jira Service Management, Jira Assets, Celigo, SAML/SSO concepts, Okta, Vanta, or light scripting.
• Bias for automation and clean documentation.
