Manager, Application Engineering

Job Description

Carbon is seeking a Manager for its Application Engineering team. This role is based in Redwood City, California, and requires onsite presence. The Manager will lead a team that collaborates with the Business Development team and external customers to develop consumer products using Carbon's technology. The role involves managing technical projects, ensuring quality standards, and collaborating with different departments.

The Application Engineering team at Carbon collaborates with visionary product companies from concept to production readiness. They educate customers on Design for DLS best practices and create products that meet customer requirements.

Role Involves:

• Leading, mentoring, and managing a team of application engineers.
• Allocating resources and defining project priorities.
• Developing a team who creates market-leading consumer products.
• Educating the team and customers on Design for DLS best practices.
• Evaluating and prioritizing potential projects for production.
• Driving all stages of application development.
• Providing technical leadership and hands-on support.
• Evaluating and implementing new tools and technologies.
• Participating in meetings with clients and internal teams.
• Fostering a collaborative and results-driven team culture.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in a managerial or leadership role.
• Skilled with CAD and CAE software (SolidWorks, NX or CATIA; Magics, Rhino, Grasshopper).
• Strong leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in client-facing design roles.
• 5+ years of experience in application engineering.
• Familiarity with traditional or additive manufacturing techniques.
• Ability to be detail-oriented.
• Demonstrated creative problem-solving abilities.
• 3D printing experience.
• BS or MS degree.
• Ability to travel (Up to 20%, primarily domestic).
