Job Description

Discord is seeking a Safety By Design Policy Expert to join their Product Policy organization. This role focuses on building safe products in collaboration with Product and Engineering, specifically for Discord’s public API, SDKs, and developer ecosystem. The ideal candidate will be passionate about understanding and shaping technology’s impact on users and society.Responsibilities:

• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify safety risks and opportunities in product changes.
• Own the Discord Developer Policies, governing the use of the public API and SDKs.
• Maintain knowledge about Discord’s API, SDKs, products, tools, infrastructure, and developer ecosystem.
• Evaluate policy and enforcement impacts on new product changes.
• Support the development of responsible product development content.
• Write user-facing communications to explain products and safety features.

Requirements:

• At least 3 years’ experience working on APIs, SDKs, app stores, or other third-party integrations.
• Experience working on responsible product development, trust & safety, or advocacy for marginalized communities.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Passion for understanding and mitigating the unintended impact of online communication services.
• Experience working directly with product, engineering, design, research partners, or multiple stakeholders.
• Attitude of collaboration, flexibility, and questioning assumptions.
