Job Description
GitLab is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead its Composition Analysis and Dynamic Analysis teams. This role involves managing engineers across both groups, driving key initiatives, and balancing priorities across multiple security-focused engineering teams. The Engineering Manager will author project plans, provide guidance on security product architecture, and coordinate between teams to ensure consistent approaches to application security.

What this role involves:
  • Managing engineers across Composition Analysis and Dynamic Analysis groups.
  • Driving key initiatives such as auto-remediation of vulnerable software packages and improving the DAST crawler.
  • Balancing priorities across multiple security-focused engineering teams.
  • Authoring project plans for epics across both groups.
  • Providing guidance on security product architecture.
  • Coordinating between Composition Analysis and Dynamic Analysis teams.

Requirements:
  • In-depth understanding of application security concepts, particularly in software composition analysis and dynamic analysis security testing (DAST).
  • Experience managing multiple technical teams simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies and dependency management systems.
  • Knowledge of web application security testing techniques and tools.
  • Experience with open source security tooling (such as OWASP ZAP, Trivy, or similar).
  • Experience in DevSecOps practices and implementation.
  • Experience in vulnerability management and remediation.
