Lead Security & Safety Engineer

Job Description

Genies is seeking a Lead Security & Safety Engineer to join their Developer Platform Team. This role involves driving the development, technology, and growth of Genies' security, safety, and moderation systems, while also prioritizing development agility. The Lead Security & Safety Engineer will collaborate with leaders across engineering, program management, and product to define the scope and drive the execution of security and moderation systems.

The Developer Platform is central to Genies’ mission of building an interoperable Avatar network. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with languages like Golang or Python, knowledge of the changing security landscape given AI advancements, and leadership skills to influence peers and mentor team members.

What this role involves:

• Developing and implementing security measures to protect company information assets.
• Leading moderation toolset choice and implementation.
• Enhancing API endpoints and access points to ensure proper security handling.
• Monitoring systems for security threats and responding to alerts.
• Hardening infrastructure using best practices in AWS, GCP, GSuite, and Github.
• Contributing to IT and Security policies and procedures.
• Identifying and remediating vulnerabilities in internal systems.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience.
• Experience in planning and developing security systems at a startup.
• Experience with 3rd party security toolsets and security compliance.
• Technical leadership of cross-functional teams.
• Anti-evil, Moderation, Safety experience.
• Knowledge of security landscape changes given AI advancements.
• Experience with APIs, distributed databases, and caching systems.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform.
• Proficiency in Python or Golang.
