Lead Automation Infrastructure Engineer

Job Description

Gong is seeking a Lead Automation Infrastructure Engineer to establish and lead test automation infrastructure and practices across the organization. This role involves designing and evolving scalable frameworks, collaborating across engineering functions, and enabling teams to deliver quality quickly.

• Designing and implementing test automation frameworks and tools aligned with the tech stack (Java, React, Cypress, Playwright).
• Driving automation infrastructure initiatives including environment management, test data provisioning, and CI/CD integration.
• Collaborating with developers, QA, SREs, and DevOps to embed intelligent automation across the development lifecycle.
• Evaluating and introducing AI-based testing tools and practices to improve coverage, effectiveness, and efficiency.
• Owning and managing test infrastructure on AWS, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Developing dashboards and reporting systems to track test execution, quality trends, and automation health.
• Leading automation best practices across teams, mentoring engineers and supporting hands-on implementation.

The ideal candidate should have:

• 6+ years of experience in software test automation or infrastructure engineering.
• Strong programming skills (Java, JavaScript/TypeScript preferred).
• Proven hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks like Cypress and Playwright.
• Deep understanding of CI/CD practices and experience integrating automation into pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Solid background in AWS and test environment management.
• Experience with test data management and synthetic data generation.
• A track record of leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing without authority.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, proactive approach.
