Paystack is seeking an experienced Brand Design Manager to lead and elevate its visual identity across all touch-points. Paystack's mission is to power African ambition, and its visual identity plays a crucial role in how businesses across Africa perceive the company.

The Brand Design Manager will mentor and manage a talented team of brand designers and web experience engineers. This role requires a blend of creative leadership and strategic thinking, connecting design decisions to business outcomes. The successful candidate will be responsible for the quality and consistency of Paystack's design output, ensuring it reflects the company's values and builds trust with customers.

This is a full-time role reporting to the Creative Director. The ideal candidate will be located in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Côte d'Ivoire, or South Africa.

Role Involves:

  • Hiring, mentoring, and managing a team of brand designers and web engineers.
  • Building a cohesive team vision and fostering a collaborative, innovative design culture.
  • Ensuring consistent implementation of Paystack's visual identity across all touch-points.
  • Collaborating with marketing, product, and leadership teams to translate business goals into compelling visual strategies.
  • Establishing and refining design processes, workflows, and quality standards.
  • Managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Keeping the team updated on industry trends and best practices.
  • Representing the design team in cross-functional meetings.
  • Understanding how brand design principles can be systematically implemented across various platforms.
  • Collaborating effectively with the product design team.
  • Actively championing the team's work and value to the broader organisation.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of design experience with at least 2 years in a management or team lead role.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in brand identity, digital design, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience building and directing high-performing design teams.
  • Deep understanding of the strategic role of design in business growth and customer perception.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey design decisions and their business impact.
  • Experience working with international or cross-cultural brands, preferably in African markets.
  • Strong design skills that inform leadership, with occasional hands-on contributions when needed.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Passion for mentoring designers and helping them grow.
  • Open-mindedness, friendliness, and high emotional intelligence.
  • Willingness to listen to different perspectives before making decisions.
