The ACLU is seeking applicants for a sponsored Legal Fellowship with the Racial Justice Program in New York, NY. This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence two days a week. The Fellow will focus on protecting educational equity and inclusion efforts against federal attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
What this role involves:
- Conducting legal research and analysis.
- Drafting legal documents.
- Interviewing witnesses and clients.
- Participating in discovery and trial practice.
- Drafting public education materials.
- Supporting ACLU affiliates.
- Managing legal interns.
- Engaging in public speaking.
Requirements:
- J.D. or expected J.D. by spring 2026.
- Commitment to public interest law, civil liberties, criminal justice, and racial justice.
- Willingness to work with the Racial Justice Program through the funding application process.
- Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct complex legal analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivation and ability to manage tasks.
