Aviation Back End Software Engineer

Job Description

The Weather Company is seeking a Back-End Aviation Software Engineer to contribute to the success of its aviation applications. The engineer will work on applications used by dispatchers and pilots worldwide, helping them execute safe and efficient flights. The role involves combining real-time weather and aviation data into interactive presentations.

The Back-End Aviation Software Engineer will leverage technologies such as GoLang, messaging systems, databases, and REST APIs to add value to the application suite. They will collaborate with product owners, designers, and SMEs to understand requirements and develop technical documentation.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement services in the next-generation aviation application suite.
• Write clean, efficient, and scalable code using key programming languages.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, as well as internal SMEs to understand and flesh out requirements.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, API specifications, and user guides.
• Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as GoLang, C#, Python, or a similar back-end language.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL (MongoDB) database systems.
• Experience with containerized applications using Kubernetes.
• Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and best practices.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
