Job Description

Lightspeed is seeking a Specialist in Data Strategy to join their Data Strategy team in Montreal. The role involves driving innovative, high-value data initiatives across the organization, focusing on the end-to-end data lifecycle with emphasis on data transformation, analytics, and data science. The Specialist will work on proof-of-concept projects to assess feasibility and potential impact, collaborating with data professionals to transition validated projects into scalable solutions.

Role Involves:

  • Driving end-to-end data projects across multiple areas of the organization.
  • Identifying and pursuing data projects with high potential value.
  • Solving complex technical problems through proof of concept and exploratory solutions.
  • Designing and executing data projects to solve specific business problems.
  • Measuring the impact of projects with thoughtful techniques.
  • Ensuring clear communication and alignment with stakeholders.
  • Leading the development and adoption of high analytics standards.
  • Developing a deep understanding of business processes and data architecture.
  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement within the Data Strategy Team.
  • Maintaining collaborative relationships with data professionals.
  • Identifying and prioritizing strategic group initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, data strategy, data engineering, or analytics engineering.
  • Proven business acumen.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
  • Creative mindset and strong intellectual curiosity.
  • Expertise in statistical and predictive modeling, data mining, and advanced analytics techniques.
  • Advanced SQL skills.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, or Power BI).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data pipeline development.
  • Familiarity with modern data transformation tools such as dbt or Dataform.
  • Experience with version control, collaboration, and workflow management (e.g., Github).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple high-impact projects.
