Platform Engineer II

Job Description

Amplitude is seeking a Platform Engineer II to contribute to the development and maintenance of its digital analytics platform. The Platform Engineer II will own small- to medium-sized platform features from design through operation, collaborating with senior engineers to simplify Kubernetes for developers. This role involves creating self-service automation and scalable infrastructure on AWS.Amplitude values growth, ownership, and humility, and is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.Responsibilities:

• Design and implement platform capabilities.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code for Kubernetes and AWS using Terraform, Helm, and Kustomize.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines (Argo CD / Workflows / Rollouts, GitHub Actions).
• Instrument services with observability tooling (Datadog, Amplitude) and own monitoring dashboards.
• Participate in the on-call rotation.
• Identify technical debt and propose remediation plans.
• Collaborate with product engineers.
• Provide informal mentorship.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience in software development, DevOps, or SRE.
• Production experience operating Kubernetes clusters and containerized applications.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Golang, Python preferred) and IaC tooling (Terraform).
• Working knowledge of AWS core services and networking/security fundamentals.
• Familiarity with GitOps workflows and CNCF ecosystem tools.
• Success in improving system reliability, performance, or developer productivity.
• Strong communication skills and collaborative problem-solving abilities.
