Job Description

PlayStation is seeking a Software Engineer II to contribute to the development of next-generation technologies. The role involves building high-quality, thoroughly tested code for one of the world's most recognizable brands. The Software Engineer will work with web technologies such as React and React Native to enhance the PlayStation gaming platform.

This position is based in Waterloo, ON, with a flexible work-from-home policy, requiring occasional in-person meetings. The team includes members in other PlayStation offices, necessitating strong collaboration skills in a hybrid environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and document JavaScript-based web features and applications.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Product Managers to understand feature requirements and craft solutions.
  • Improve processes, propose standard methodologies, and drive their usage within the teams.
  • Write unit tests and component tests for features, ensuring stability and maintainability.
  • Work independently and collaborate with internal and external engineers.
  • Review and provide feedback on pull requests and design plans.
  • Optimize existing solutions and participate in Hackathons and Cafe Days.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent, or at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 2+ years of professional web development experience.
  • Proficiency in UI Development using HTML, CSS, the JavaScript ecosystem, and frameworks like React, Angular, Ember, Jest, Babel, and TypeScript.
  • Experience collaborating with multi-functional partners.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to take initiative.
  • A passion for robust sustainable code.
