Job Description
Spektrum is seeking a Network Engineer to support key client projects for the NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) in Braine l'Alleud, Belgium. The NCIA is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and IT services to NATO member countries and partners. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining network architecture, troubleshooting network issues, and ensuring network security and compliance. The Network Engineer will work within the Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS) program, contributing to the maintenance and defense of NATO's enterprise-wide IT infrastructure.
Role Involves: - Designing new systems or system components following standard approaches.
- Specifying technical configurations for small networks or network segments.
- Defining software modules for integration builds and producing software builds.
- Maintaining network support processes and ensuring requests are handled according to procedures.
- Planning, configuring, and deploying routing protocols.
- Optimizing routing tables and traffic flow for performance and redundancy.
- Diagnosing and resolving routing issues.
- Implementing route filtering and security policies.
- Monitoring network usage and planning for scalability.
- Maintaining network diagrams and incident reports.
- Collaborating with other teams to ensure seamless connectivity.
- Upgrading and patching routers to maintain security and stability.
- Conducting network simulations and testing.
- Providing on-call support for after-hours network incidents.
- Taking assigned shifts in the ESOC to monitor and manage network operations in real-time.
Requirements: - Hands-on experience with designing, implementing, and maintaining core network architecture.
- Practical experience configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing routers, switches, and firewalls.
- CCNA Routing and Switching or similar certification.
- At least 2 years of practical experience in network architecture.
- Proficiency in dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, IS-IS) and traffic engineering techniques.
- Experience with MPLS, IPv6, Segment Routing, QoS.
- Hands-on experience with SD-WAN solutions.
- Knowledge of Software Defined (SDx) technologies.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills and knowledge of network automation tools.
- Prior experience in an international environment with military and civilian elements.
- Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good analytical skills and problem-solving attitude.
- Valid National or NATO Cosmic Top Secret personal security clearance.
