Job Description
Eventbrite is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Search team. This role involves leading a team of software engineers focused on improving the search experience for event-goers on Eventbrite's platforms. The Engineering Manager will collaborate with Design and Product teams to enhance users' ability to find, discover, and be inspired by events. They will refine software design lifecycle processes, clarify design requirements, and accelerate progress. The role includes supporting the career growth of engineers and fostering a sustainable, healthy work environment.
The role involves:
- Managing a team of software engineers.
- Measuring velocity and improving efficiency for the team.
- Driving change effectively across the organization.
- Maintaining regular communication with the leadership team.
- Taking ownership of career development for engineers on the team.
- Driving innovation in processes and strategies throughout the business unit.

Requirements:
- 1+ years experience in engineering leadership and people management.
- Experience working with Search/Ranking/Retrieval algorithms (LTR, Vector Search, Embeddings), Personalization, and Indexing (distributed stream processing, etc.).
- Experience working with Search, Personalization or any other type of indexing, relevance and information retrieval.
- Experience with Search, ML/NLP, Ranking problems at scale.
- Experience working with Search Engines such as OpenSearch, ElasticSearch, Solr, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to grow and lead high-functioning and diverse engineering teams.
- Solid technical background and the ability to contribute to software design and architectural discussions.
- Experience building early-stage consumer products, applying concepts like experimentation, rapid prototyping, and user research in engineering.
- Experience working with a highly collaborative remote-first environment.
- Working knowledge of fundamental cloud technologies, preferably within AWS.
- Experience managing full stack team.
- Experience in incident management, on-call, and Operational Excellence practices.
