Quantitative Developer Intern

Job Description

AlphaGrep is seeking a Quantitative Developer Intern to join their team in Shanghai. AlphaGrep is a leading global quantitative trading firm specializing in algorithmic strategies across equities, commodities, FX, and fixed income. AlphaGrep China is a dedicated RMB asset management platform focused on the Chinese market.

This internship offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced quantitative researchers and engineers, contributing to the development and optimization of high-performance trading systems.

Responsibilities:

• Optimize the implementation of operators for high-performance computing.
• Refine and accelerate factor-calculation logic by leveraging relational/NoSQL databases or shared-memory techniques.
• Design and develop a high-frequency backtesting framework to validate intraday strategies at scale.
• Collaborate with quants and engineers to integrate optimized components into the production trading system.
• Monitor performance metrics in live environments and iterate on code for robustness and efficiency.

Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field at a top university.
• Proficient in C++ with demonstrated experience in algorithmic and low-level performance optimization (e.g., cache awareness, SIMD/vectorization).
• Solid foundation in mathematical statistics and time-series analysis.
• Familiarity with Python for data analysis and scripting tasks.
• Comfortable working in Linux environments and using common tooling (git, build systems, profiling/debugging tools).
• Exposure to database systems (e.g., MySQL/PostgreSQL, Redis) or shared-memory paradigms (e.g., POSIX SHM, mmap) is a plus.
• Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to deliver reliable, production-quality code under tight deadlines.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills; capable of articulating technical trade-offs clearly.
