Job Description
Marqeta is seeking a Counsel, Product & Regulatory to contribute to its vision of modern money movement. This role involves driving cross-functional initiatives, addressing complex legal and regulatory issues related to financial and payments products. The ideal candidate will possess strong business acumen and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Role involves:
- Acting as a trusted advisor on prepaid, debit, and credit card products.
- Monitoring and analyzing new regulations in the payments/financial services space.
- Advising on payment laws, financial services regulations, and consumer protection.
- Assessing legal risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Leading cross-functional efforts for engagement with regulators and bank partners.
- Collaborating with and managing outside legal counsel.
Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in fintech, banking, or a reputable law firm.
- Deep understanding of the payments industry and card space.
- Ability to independently drive complex projects to completion.
- Solid business focus with practical risk awareness.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- JD degree and member in good standing of a State Bar.
