Job Description

PlayStation is seeking a Data Engineer to join their ICDS Data Engineering team in London. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining the data processing platform that powers analytics, data science, marketing, and other teams across the PlayStation business. The ideal candidate will be a highly driven individual with a strong background in data processing and a passion for leveraging data to inform key decisions.

The Data Engineer will work within a skilled team, taking initiative and working with limited supervision to address project requirements and ensure timely delivery of high-quality data services.

Responsibilities:

  • Engineer data pipelines, frameworks, and automated solutions for ICDS DE teams.
  • Proactively address project requirements and articulate issues and challenges.
  • Implement system monitoring and alerting, dashboards, charts/reports, and alerts delivery.
  • Ensure code is fully scalable, maintainable, and performant.
  • Oversee the preparation of test data, testing, and debugging of programs.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and TPM to ensure timely delivery of project deliverables.
  • Develop new documentation, departmental technical procedures, and user guides.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in developing large-scale data processing platforms.
  • Extensive experience throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experience of SDLC methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Skilled in business requirements analysis and translating business information into technical specifications.
  • 5+ years of experience with Databricks, Spark, Scala, PySpark, Python.
  • 5+ years of experience in SQL and database technologies like Snowflake or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience with data and ETL programming (Ab Initio).
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS services (EKS, S3, EC2, DynamoDB, Glue etc).
  • Experience in designing and architecting medium to complex systems.
  • General knowledge in Linux, Unix Administration, and Windows Administration.
  • Experience with automation, configuration management, orchestration, and enterprise schedulers.
